ABOUT ME
I'm a Homegrown Leader
COMMITTED TO COMMUNITY
I am active in our community and enjoy helping to make our community a better and more enjoyable place to live. I am well-known for my house in Old Towne, one of the winningest residences for Christmas decorating going back decades. Since December 2016 I’ve been the chair of our CASTO Chapter 2 “Wish Tree Program” through the Regional Center of Orange County, which raises money through donations to give holiday gifts to people of all ages with no families.
I have also spent time volunteering for many other organizations, including tutoring student in Math at Orange County Juvenile Hall, serving as the secretary to H.T.F. Charitable Foundation, and as a youth sponsor and Chair of The Deacons at First Christian Church of Orange. I love our community and enjoy working to make it even better.
EXPERIENCE
I started my career as a bus driver in OUSD, and rose through the ranks. Becoming a transportation dispatcher, state certified bus driver instructor and supervisor, and eventually the Director of Transportation for Coachella Valley Unified School District in 2012. I now serve as Garden Grove Unified School District’s Director of Transportation, overseeing a budget of $23 million and 170 employees. I have 13 years of experience as an administrator, and know how to spend money wisely with the intent to give students and families the transportation resources they need, getting them where they need to be –efficiently and safely. As director of transportation, I secured over $30 million in grant funding for my district to replace older diesel buses with newer, safer, alternative fuel and electric buses–all while saving money for the district. I have decades of experience dealing with the business side of a school district and have seen first-hand the impact of difficult budget decisions and the positive impacts of fiscal responsibility on student learning.
